What to Expect With the Implant Timeline

This short video explains how implant treatment is typically planned at Poway Perio, so you know what the steps look like and how the timeline usually works.

Personalized Consultation

We start with a detailed exam and 3D CBCT imaging. This lets us evaluate your bone quality, gum health, and bite. We review your medical history, goals, and any existing dental work, then create a personalized treatment plan.

Implant Placement

Using your 3D scan as a guide, Dr. Khansari places a small titanium post into the jawbone where the tooth root used to be. This is done under local anesthesia, with additional comfort options available when appropriate.

Healing + Integration

Over the next few months, the implant and bone fuse together. This creates a strong, stable base for your new tooth or teeth. During this time, we monitor healing and protect the area.

Final Restoration with Your Dentist

And finally your dentist places the final restoration over the implant (crown/bridge/full-arch restoration). We will coordinate that appointment for you to ensure your dentist has all impression components at time of your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants

I’m not sure I’m ready for implants. Should I still come in?

Yes. A consultation is often the best first step when you’re unsure. You’ll get a clear evaluation, your options, and a plan, without pressure to move forward.

What should I expect at the consultation?

We start by reviewing your goals and medical history, and take a 3D CBCT scan to check bone and anatomy. Then we’ll explain your best options (including whether you’d benefit from bone grafting). You’ll get a clear timeline and what the surgical portion involves. You can take time to decide. You’re not committing to treatment just by coming in for a consultation.

Is there a consultation fee?

Yes. Your implant consultation is $185 and includes a full evaluation and 3D CBCT scan to assess bone, gums, and implant options. If you have questions about how the consultation fee applies, our team can walk you through it when you book.

Who will I see at the appointment?

Your implant evaluation and planning is led by Dr. Khansari and our periodontal team. We’ll walk you through your scan, findings, and recommendations in plain language.

What if I don’t have enough bone?

Bone regenerative procedures using biological mediators make the bone grafting a very predictable procedure.

Is implant surgery painful?

Most patients report manageable discomfort. The area is numbed, and post-op soreness is typically short-lived.

How long do dental implants last?

With good home care and professional maintenance, implants can last many years.

What happens after the consultation?

If you decide to proceed, we schedule the next step and coordinate with your general dentist for the restoration. If you’re not ready, you still leave with clarity about what’s going on and what your options are.

How much do dental implants cost?

Cost varies based on how many teeth are being replaced, whether bone grafting is required, and the type of restoration your restorative dentist plans to use. Our office provides pricing for the surgical portion of the procedure only, while the cost of the crown is handled by your dental office. We’ll walk you through a clear estimate and help you understand all of your options.

Do you take insurance for dental implants?

Insurance coverage varies by plan. We’ll help you verify what’s covered for the surgical portion of treatment and explain what to expect before you decide.

What payment and financing options do you offer?
We accept cash, checks, and credit cards, and we also accept CareCredit. We work with many insurance plans and can help you understand your benefits. We’ll go over options during your implant consultation. You can also review our insurance providers and CareCredit financing options.
Do I need a referral?

No referral is required. You can book directly with Poway Perio.
